MURRIETA, CA (March 4, 2021) – Murrieta Surf is proud to announce our acceptance into the Development Players League (DPL) beginning for the 2021-22 season.  It is both an honor and a privilege for Murrieta Surf to join clubs from around the nation participating in this elite platform designed to identify and showcase our players across the country.

Murrieta Surf has worked hard over the years in our Girls program and is proud to be able to offer DPL as a nationally recognized development platform to our female players and become a proud part of an organization whose mission so closely aligns with the very foundation of our club.

The DPL is a National League with 4 conferences, 35 clubs and 3300 players. Murrieta Surf will compete in the Southwest Conference and field teams at the U13, U14, U15, U16, U17 and U19 age groups from the 2021-22 Season.

The efforts to elevate Murrieta Surf into the DPL was spearheaded by our Technical Director Steve Myles, Girls Olders Director David Parker and Girls Youngers Director Hector Cabrera, who are delighted that the dedicated efforts of all our girls’ coaches have been rewarded by giving our players the platform they aspire to play in without having to leave the valley.

“Since our inception in 2012, Murrieta Surf has continued to strive for premier player development that is not available for our local players without significant travel. We accomplished that for the boys in 2017 with acceptance into the USSDA, and now we are moving towards that on the girls’ side with the DPL. I appreciate all the hard work that Steve Myles and our DOC’s, David Parker and Hector Garcia, have done to bring our girls program to this point. I also recognize that we must continue working hard so that we continue to extend opportunities to our girls for the highest level of play and development.” Rob Hawkes

“We will continue to lead a dynamic development program for our female players while providing a professional and competitive environment. Today’s announcement is a culmination of many years of effort by all in our organization and I have no doubt hard work lies ahead as we continue to pursue the dream of bringing the highest level of girls’ soccer to the valley.” Steve Myles

“The Development Player League (DPL) represents an elite national platform that will allow our teams to play against the best teams in the country. We are excited and honored to have been accepted. We are fully committed to our players and their goals and through the DPL know that our female players will have the opportunity to achieve their dreams in the extremely competitive Southwest Conference.  Our invitation to join DPL will complete our player development pathway from the youngest ages through their collegiate and professional aspirations.” David Parker

“What a great way to start the year 2021 after these tough times! A huge testament to all our girl’s coaches for their great passion, patience, and perseverance. Now the beautiful fruits are to follow” Hector Cabrera
